Our story

Over a decade ago, a small group of six, armed with little more than enthusiasm and a shared love for football, laid the foundation for what would become an extraordinary legacy. The Skem Men-Aces, against all odds, have transformed from a humble grassroots team into a national sporting powerhouse. Today, we continue to celebrate years of inspiring triumphs.

Our journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with challenges and extraordinary achievements. From those early days of playing on borrowed time with two coats serving as goalposts, we’ve grown into a formidable force of sixty players. The Skem Men-Aces are now synonymous with success, our trophy cabinet a testament to our dedication and talent. A Queen's Award for Voluntary Services, Silver medals at the Special Olympics, and the Freedom of the Borough of West Lancs and BBC Unsung Hero are just some of the accolades that adorn our name. Our players have not only conquered domestic football but have also proudly represented their country on the international stage.

This incredible story would not be possible without the unwavering support of our community. Skelmersdale has embraced the Skem Men-Aces with open arms, cheering us on every step of the way. Your generosity and belief in our vision have been instrumental to our success. And to my extraordinary wife, Mim, whose tireless support and love have been the bedrock of this journey, I extend my deepest gratitude.

As we look forward to the future with excitement and anticipation. The Skem Men-Aces are more than just a football team; we are a symbol of determination, inclusivity, and the power of the human spirit. Here’s to many more years of triumphs.
